Why boring pages convert better
Simple pages often perform better. Why, and how to build clarity and conversion deliberately.
Clarity beats creativity
The best landing pages are often visually unremarkable. A clear headline, one line of value proposition, one CTA — done. Users arrive with a question, not to admire design2Nielsen Norman Group.
Every animation, scroll effect, and extra section is a decision the user must make. Fewer decisions = less drop-off.
Proof & CTA
Social proof (testimonials, numbers, logos) next to the CTA builds trust. The CTA itself should name a clear action: not Contact, but Book a free intro call.
One CTA above the fold, one repeated at the end. More CTAs on a short page confuse. The page has one job — everything else is distraction.
Measurability
Boring pages are easier to measure. Fewer elements = clearer attribution. What happens if you change the headline? The CTA text? On complex pages that is harder to isolate.
Small improvements add up: one second faster load can lift conversion by several percent1Think with Google. Performance is part of clarity — a slow page is not a clear experience.
